Need a 12 valve manual tranny

Does anyone know off a tranny for sale? My daughters freind just bought an old 12 valve to fix up and it needs a tranny. The kids is only 15 so I'm trying to help him out. He is going to make a fine dieselholic

needs a trany as its missing or it can be rebuilt. there are a few for sale on furoms but a 15 isnt going to be able to buy a $1000-3000 part

The housing is cracked on it, so i'm thinking whole tranny.

be way easier to find a used NV4500 that's in reasonable shape rather than a Getrag. You also may want to surf over to the 1st Gen site http://www.1stgen.org/ there might be someone in your area that might have one but either way still spendy
