Goosenecks

Looks like this weekend I'll be putting some money down on a 24' Goosneck....

Any tips or tricks for towing a goose compared to a bumper pull? I've pulled everything thats bumper pull under the sun, some 4x4 trailers up to 30-34' Toyhaulers....But never a Goose.

Any thoughts/help is appreciated!

About the only thing that you have to pay attention to is they turn tighter than the truck pulling it does. You might want to consider an in bed harness(numbers in my sig) saves the paint on the tailgate and allows you a full 90 if you ever need it.. What brand/style did you go with?

It backs up a lot different than a bumper pull. Takes a while to get used to.

They are easier to pull, easier to back up, and all around easier to maneuver.

Not to mention when you go down the road you dont get the bouncing anymore, with the weight right over the axle it pulls so much better.

I used to haul my pull truck on a pintle trailer...55-60mph was top speed or it would bounce and sway terrible. With the goose neck we can run 75-80 or more if we want and its steady and stable.

I have both and I prefer to take the GN out over the BP if I have the option. Like was said above, they pull, ride, and corner better IMO. Just make sure you remember that it is back there and swing the corners wide. They turn tighter and you can put them in places you would never even think a BP would be able to go, in reverse that is.

Rick,
Sounds like you got a good deal on the trailer and set-up, when you get it home grease the bearings and adjust the brakes you should be set..

Like everyone else has said, just remember that it tracks through turns different than the bumper pull. I've see a lot of people go their first time out with the gooseneck and pull it right through the ditch/over the curb on their first turn.

With much experience and confidence in pulling and backing a bumper pull you will love a GN. Like stated above it does turn much shaper both ways so be careful and don’t rearrange some innocent cars front bumper when turning.

Make sure to put the tail gate down after you unhook it, or you will have a 'U' gate.

Everything else has pretty much been said.
