I think that the ones from the mustangs are only a 27 spline not 31 like the explorers. I bought a 8.8 from a car and could not use it. I don't think the width matches either.

Mustang 8.8 is not very useful, except for a Rustang person. Explorerer/Ranger 8.8 would be better. The Exploders have disk on the later models ( you will have to plumb a proportioning valve and figure out the parking brake).

Looks like they do not make a Lock Right for the 8.25, just the More expensive, more complicated (Read: more failure prone) No Slip. Mine is stuck in full spool mode, I hope you have better luck with yours.

I WAS WRONG.

Powertrax lockright part # 1320

I posted it on Pirate4x4 vendor section, should be about $220 shipped maybe less.

TJ you talking about the EZ locker or Crap lock? The Crap locks suck, don't waste your money.

I broke two Power trax and 2 aussie lockers in my D35 Not a big fan but the ease of install and the price....... If you are running smaller tires (32 and smaller) I think they work ok. When you move up though they cannot handle it. I lower my PSI to 8 - 10 pounds on the trail and that kind of grip with aggressive tires, breaks auto lockers.

again...this is a daily driver that will see trails maybe 4 times a year...on 32" BFG ALL TERRAINS

im not spending big money on it...i might be buying a newer 8.25" with factory LSD and 29-splines that i can rebuild and stack an extra clutch or two in to make it close to locked like my truck.

S@#T I forgot you had that. I just picked up a Ford 8.8 this weekend. Now I have to start prepping it for the new brackets.

sorry i arrived late to the discussion, but don't waste your time on locking a D35, it's not worth the risk and it's alot of work to swap axle shafts on the trail if you break one. A ford 9" or a 8.8 or a D44 would be a much better choice, save your money and do it right.
this is what happens when your D35 shaft breaks, it walks the wheel off your jeep.

I have a powertracs auto locker in the front of my TJ, I absolutely love it. Very easy install with basic tools and knowledge. And cheap to get too.

I threw a 9" under my jeep and have had never had a second thought about losing a shaft again. I found one with the TJ brackets already welded on for around $250. I bought a new 3rd member and plan to spool the old one once I get a new set of gears for it.
