Tahoe says good day

Hi Folks, Just want to say hi from Lake Tahoe. I'm DJ, just jumpin in and basking in the glow of fellow Cummins lovers. I'm a builder and work the heck out of my truck, we are all the time in the mountains hauling lumber up some twisty dirt road over boulders, and my rig has been so tough, I think it's time to rejuvenate it. We are all stock as of now, 184k, new top end two years ago, stock clutch (?!). I am looking for advice on mileage improvements, exterior mods. Here is what I am thinking right now. It seems MBRP exhausts are all over this site, so maybe a 4" MBRP, and a BAHF intake, that might be it for now, don't need to get too tricky yet. Outside I'm going Stealth Combat, black on that sick green, getting all the chrome off. Probably Backwoods Bumper Original style front and rear, maybe fender flares, new black stock grille. Have Toyo M/T on black rims, only 285s, just fine for me (and I use these tires, and swear by them). My truck with chains on all fours in 22" powder on an unplowed road is an amazing sight. Any advice is appreciated, I'll get photos on here soon, dj

Uh, sorry, a little confusion, thought I had that going on. Anyway, in case my sig doesn't engage: 01 2500 SLT 4x4 QC LB, straight stock homey, dark green, stout lumber hauler, oh there it is. Anyone else hear that echo

Hi DJ and welcome to the site. I'm not far away from you-- I live in Pollock Pines.

I have the MBRP 5" and am pleased with their product. A 4" would suit you well.

There are a lot of helpful folks here when you need advice or just want to chew the fat.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Yes, the MBRP is what I've been thinking, and now I'm wondering if I should consider adding the Donaldson muffler, my truck has never had a problem being loud. I'd rather have a low throaty sound like a flowmaster than loud. I spend a lot of time driving around sound sensitive clientele and neighbors...Where's my sig? I need a leash for that thing

The engine clatter from that 2nd gen will be louder than the MBRP muffler. It has a now low sound that you are after. It isn't as quiet as stock though and neither is the Donaldson.

On the other hand, mine is pretty loud... but you hear my turbos long before the exhaust. It sounds an awful lot like a 747 at roll out.
