My name is Josh. I've been thinking of trading my old 1500 for a 3/4 or 1 ton for some time now. The 1/2 ton has been really forgiving for 205,000 or so miles but I don't think it will hold out much longer without major work. I'm not sure what year model I would like to get because I'm not sure which features are most important to me yet. I'm used to the manual tranny in the 1500 so I would most likely go with that again. I like the fewer parts - fewer things to break aspect of the manual. I think from what I've read I would like to go with a later 12valve, but I'm not completely sure yet.

 

i dont know too much about the difference between the newer 12v's and older ones but i know for sure nothing looks as tough and beefy as the early first gens

 

Welcome to DTR! What's your realistic budget? Good choice on the 12v 5speed combo

 

I'll be saving for a little while but I think I would like to stay under $15,000.
