Thinking of getting Kore or Lorenz?

I have been doing a little reasearch and am trying to decide if I should get a suspension lift like the Kore Chase/Race or Lorenz. I would love to hear what you guys think that have one of the two. Is it really worth all that money? I dont do much off-roading but thats mainly because I feel like I'm going to brake something up front everytime with my leveling kit and stock shocks. How much of a difference would I be able to tell? I spoke with Sean at Lorenz today and he seemed to know his stuff but what I a worried about is that it is a 3 inch front lift and he said it probably was not even an inch in the rear. I really do not want the truck to sag in the rear with no load as I do tow and would rather not have to but air bags. Any suggestions, if it is worth it or not? Sorry for such a long post. Thanks.

look at my gallery, lots of pics of the lorenz syetem.

I have the 2.5 shocks and have been beating it quite a bit latley.

So as to your questions

Is it worth the money? For me yes, you can go lower with lorenz than I did. Like get the 2.0 shocks, stuff like that. I know it was less than the other brand you mentioned, when I purchased.

As for off roading and breaking. I dont have that issue. I have been putting it through some tough stuff latley, no signs of wear. I am sure it can take more.

Front vs rear height. my truck

there are more pictues in the gallery.

I think the lorenz system is a better value. I would be glad to answer more specific questions or talk to you as needed. A ride if you are near is also in the cards if you want.

I keep hearing people talking about Lorenz Suspension, but I can't find anything out about it. Who is it and where can I find them?

http://lorenzindustries.com/ There is no point in buying an expensive suspension if you aren't going to go off road. Unless you just want to spend the money. If you just want the lift, go to natltire.com ang get the cheapest 3" lift they have. I believe it is ~$900 and includes spacers, rear blocks, controll arms drop brackets and pitman arm. and other things. My roommate has a 3" procomp lift and it makes his truck ride the same, however, pro comp lifts for these truck suck big time. They don't send the right parts or make the drillng templates correctly.

On my 01 I installed the Kore Chase system. I have no complaints whatsoever. So far it has done everything I have asked of it. I have noticed better on road handling as well. Probably cant go wrong with either one.

No problem, there are many choices. I just looked at the Lorenz web site for the first time in a while. He has added some leveling kits, worth looking into. I also think you could just go with the 5100 kit. You could just go with coils also.

I also noticed I am famous, check out the buildups pages on the lorenz website.

good luck

As for the rear end, not sure I answered that.

As you can see my truck is still very level. I think it looks better with the IR springs then the 580s. More level now.

I have not put much of a load on the rear yet, just a 5000lb boat. Not much tong weight. So I have not had much of a issue there yet.

Last I knew Sean was working on some new rear spring packs. They would address the "sag" and Load issue. So you would not need to run air bags. They are supposed to ride softer than stock but still carry the same load.

Thanks again Nriver, it looks level in your photos, but I just dont know if I will ever put a Lorenz system to use. I'm sure all I would need is the Fox 2.0 series, but sean really reccomended the 2.5 sway-aways since it is so heavy of a truck and I'm sure that he knows his stuff and is right. How much of a difference would there be in the two shocks? Thanks again.

I went with the Kore Chase system. I have no regrets. The price for what you get can't be beat. Truck handles better on the road. Pavement ride is little to no improvement until you hit a pot hole or dip. Freeway expansion joints are no better than before. Keep in mind this suspension is set up for off road. Truck handles very good in the dirt now. I've had the opportunity to push it quite hard and it takes it great. It did bottom out when I caught some air going into a dip and landed on the upward transition. I can't imagine any system would not bottom out in this situation.

I understand that a 2" shock will perform as well as a 2.5" shock but at a shorter duration before it overheats. If you don't plan on racing for extended periods off road I wouldn't think that a 2.5" shock is needed.

Take a look at thecarlisuspension.com for another option.

My truck sags a little in the rear with about 800 lbs in the bed that I use for work Monday through Friday.

Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for the reply 04 SO CA,I cannot seem to find alot of information on Carli Suspension though. What is so good about that? All the picuture on the website shows is shocks, leaf packs and towers, nothing else like the Kore or Lorenz. Does anyone know what the Carli Suspension cost?

Less than KORE. Sage Carli's system is awesome, several guys that run chase down in Baja are running Sage's system and it's performing flawlessly. I was down at his shop the other day and he was replacing another well known manufacturers' system with his at the owner's request. He has other goodies that go into his system besides what you see on the website.

He's also installing Thuren Fabrication stuff along with his shocks, springs and towers.

The key is in the shock valving and spring rates, Sage has it nailed.

PanteraGSK is right, you're wasting your money if you go this route and don't use it. Save your money....buy a BDS kit and Bilstien 5100's and save yourself about $2K. Or I can point you in the right direction to set up a custom system that will be better than any of the off the shelf kits for about the same price, PM me if you're interested.

everyone has hit it with the shocks. The 2.5s will take a beating longer than the 2.0....

That said, the price between the two were not that much for me to worry about.

As for how much to spend, decide what you are going to do.... we all say that...

I seem to go overkill so I only need to do it once, that is the plan any way. I hate spending 500 on something only to decide a few months later I should of spent 750. Then I end up buying both and selling the first choice. That has been my track record.

nriver, sweet lookin rig. Got a few questions for you. With that deer smasher on the front of your truck did Lorenz increase your valving on your front shocks to accommodate for the extra weight of the bumper? Do you bottom out at any time?
Thanks

Thanks JTNM

No changes to the Valving. I also have not bottomed out. I can tell how far the shocks travel with the 1/2" poly bushing on the shaft.

I cant remember the valving off the top of my head. Did a quick search through the emails, but did not find it. I can get it if you want.

have you seen the new pictures?
