1993 Dodge D350 Cummings

Hello from south, south, south Texas. The ECM burned out on my truck. Won't shift into overdrive, speedometer does not work, battery won't charge etc. Tried getting it rebuilt with a company in Jacksonville, Florida and they can't. They are sending it back and charging $120.00 for a diagnostic check. Can't find a computer. Help. Blueheeler1

Check out Rock Auto or auto parts store. Rock Auto shows as having them available for less. I would check them out.

I tried Rock Auto, they show they have 1 and when you try to order it's not available. I also sent the module to AES in Jacksonville, Florida and they contacted me to say the module could not be repaired, they were charging $120.00 for diagnostics and shipping it back. The ECM number is 56026860. Can you retrofit to pre-ECM? 1993 Dodge D350 Pickup 5.9 Diesel Turbocharged & auto tranny. Won't charge or shift into overdrive. Great truck!! Hate to park it due to a computer. Blueheeler1

That is terrible. I had an old 87 Jeep Comanche that the ecm went out on. I went to the local junk yard and found a replacement. Ended up working. You may have to go that route. I checked auto zone and they have 4 different models available. Their remanufactured ECMs are from Cardone. Converting to pre-ecm may be more trouble than its worth, but may be worth researching if you absolutely can not find a new ecm.

Check out http://www.car-part.com. They network with auto salvage yards across the country. I just did a quick search for a '93 350 diesel auto trans and a couple results turned up.

Toggle switch for the OD, and a voltage regulator, can get you home, at least.

Cummings ?

How do you know it's the ECM ? Lots of issues cause the problem you're having, and the ECM isn't usually the culprit. How did you diagnose the ecm, if I might ask ?
