Won't Start !

I have a 94 Ram, It ran just fine last night but went to start it this morning (about 35 degress outside, not plugged in) And it cranks but it won't start, doesnt seems to be getting any fuel. I checked all fuses and they are fine. All wiring seems to be OK. Anyone have any ideas?

Double check all the wires connected to the fuel shut off solenoid. Also you can try turning the key to the on position and pushing the plunger on the bottom side of the solenoid up to where it catches (if its not already catching) and then see if it will crank over.
Hope this helps
Wheels

Even at 35 degrees without the heaters working it should still fire..its not a ford you know!!lol

I agree with the fuel shut off solenoid being the culprit. Check that out forst and let us know what you find.

BTW this solenoid is on the bottom of the injector pump.

Re:Won't Start !

Hey WalkingHorse:
The problem is not likely the fuel solenoid, but instead the relay that is on the firewall. Unplug the relay, bang around a bit and then try it. If you have an extra relay, try that.

Also, trace the feed wire for the solenoid to the driver's side battery. The lead comes in in a black harness, and then a blue(I think) wire makes the connectioon. On the '94, the manual is incorrect about the location of this wire. The wires tend to corrode off, and are difficult to find because they come in to the bottom of the terminal in that bundle of wires.

Re:Won't Start !

WalkingHorse77, this info is from postings by members on another site concerning the fuel cut-off relay. Reported that Radio Shack has a 30 amp replacement relay that sells for about $6, part # 275-226.

Jerry

WalkingHorse77

The solenoid is a bit pricey if you have to replace it. I just noticed Piers has them for $149. This is a real good price from what I've heard. Some guys have hooked up a choke cable to replace the solenoid. It works as a great theft deterrent too. Good luck.
