Thats what you get using Chevy parts on a dodge
I think that you just got lucky and got a crappy part.

I can't think of anything,if the one you put on is the right size.
Sometimes if you get the drum reeeeaal hot the thing will blow.

My guess is the brakes were not adjusted right and the piston came out too far?

How are you adjusting them?

How about self adjusters on the wrong sides?

As Geico and Wanna said were brakes adjusted properly or self adjusters not working. I wouldn't toss out those pads, hit them with some brake clean and emery cloth should be fine after that.

hmmm well ive been adjusting them manually...never thought of the self adjusters as being possible causes...so lets say they could be on the wrong side.. or not working right...how would that possibly cause the blown cylinder?

ps i dont think i can really salvage the brake shoe...they soak up with the oil don't they?

When you say "blown cylinder" do you mean the pistons came out of the bore or the seals failed?

Don't worry, any brake fluid that doesn't wash off the surface will bake out soon enough with some hard stops - just remember to burnish, not glaze!

If the previous cylinders blew out so quickly, don't use the new ones until you've found and corrected the root cause, or you'll do it again!

since it is an 11 year old truck it could be the flex breakline to the rear. They can breakdown inside and hold pressure on the cylinders.
