We need help! Steering to the Left
We need help! Steering to the Left
What would cause a 3/4 ton 6-cylinder turbo diesel to suddenly become terribly hard to steer only to the left (turning to the right is fine!). We have to pull horses this weekend and are short on money. Any suggestions?! Thanks for whatever help you can give us.
If its hard to turn in one direction 2 things come to mind , knukle ball joints going bad, dry, no lube ,they seize up ,next is the valve system in the power steering, the one for that side is sticking , may be a flush would cean it out enough to free up the valve, there isn't a fluid in the truck that shouldn't be flushed out every 20,000-30,000 or sooner depending on whitch fluid, one way to see whats the cause may be is to get the front end off the ground and see if you can turn it by hand , if not then its the ball joints , if so then the power stearing.
Could be something simple like the steering stabilizer shock got bent.
One way, it's straight and turning isn't a problem.
Other way, it's bent and a pain to turn.
Disconnect it and see if the problem goes away.
I guess this theory only holds water if the truck in questions is a 4wheel drive.
