Angry left me stranded! Need Help Fast!

i was driving home from work listening to the radio and then the radio died and the engine stut off. i coasted to the side but it would not even turn over like the starter wasnt even there all other electronics worked and my battery read 12.7v so that was good.i checked the all the fuses i think and they all seemed good. there was no smoke coming from anywhere but there was a slight oder of something burnt near the battery. could i have a short somewhere? i already pulled the dash apart and looked for fried stuff but no luck. any advise would be appreciated. thanks for reading guys

Id check to see if one of the power wires came off the pump

In a pinch you can hotwire the pump / fuel shutoff solenoid + turn it over by shorting the solenoid (make a jumper for the Two wire oval connector that comes up from the starter) and see if it starts. If so, you may have fried something like a fusible link but you probably don't have a continuing short because something would be baking under the dash or hood.

Could also be the ignition switch, in the column.

Dodge uses in line wireing, and mostly their wireing is to light for the loads,I have noticed when wireing in a radio with out proper plugs, folks tend to wire to any wire that is hot!,Check that radio wiring--can't hurt. whosdunit

Find the fusible links, and give each one a little tug to see if the conductor is melted through, inside the insulation. Have seen several times, a short will develop in the power wire for the fuel shutdown solenoid, behind the throttle plate bolted to the injection pump.

If you smelled something burnt next to the battery, I would look closely at the fusible links in the harness next to the hood hing. I would say the chances are better being a link then the switch. As mentioned check to make sure there is power to the switch before replacing it!

My dad's '93 did the exact same thing. Ignition switch went bad and fried the fusable link for the orange wire.
