water in fuel light

I have put over 300,000 mile on my truck since I got it and naver had this darn light come on until last friday. Put in only 10 gal of fuel to top off the tank at a different station then normal cause they were cheaper.

Here's what I've done. 1 bottle of Rescue 911, 1 bottle of reguler power service in the truck tank. 1 bottle of power service in 50 gal aux tank. 1 new fuel filter.

Truck runs fine in 1st,2nd,3rd gears then goes to down hill. Not skipping just no power. The WIF light did go off for about 10 minutes after rescue 911 but then came back on. Ran out 1/2 of trucks tank then refilled from aux hoping that would help. I removed the filter twice looking for water but could see none. So then I decided to put a new filter on. Refilled fuel filter canister from aux tank and light goes out for a few seconds then comes back on I have went thru a 1/4 tank from truck since then. I can do 65 mph winding her up in 5th until I hit a hill then the power loss really shows.

Is there anything else I could do besides draining the tank? another bottle of 911? Keep driving it?

I would drain it and have the station that sold you the watered down fuel pay the bill.

OH!!! I'm sorry to hear that. That damned timing code seems to happen a lot. Good luck changing the I.P.

You are going to think this is strange, but put exactly 5 ounces of Acetone and one cup of non-detergent 30 weight oil in your full fuel tank. If it is watered fuel, the problem will go away in about twenty miles.

Yes, that is strange.

Well, tonight I started it up and the WIF light is out, checked codes again-none, Went for a drive and after a mile or so the light came on for about 5 min then went out again, stopped and checked codes-none . Drove about 10 miles and WIF came on several times but not longer than a few minutes.

Fuel pressure is good 14+ @ idle and no less than 13 @ wot, backed up with mech gauge. I'm still worried the VP is still going to take a dump since I had the 0216 code.

I'm going to make the 100 mile drive to work with it tomorrow and see what happens. I will let you know if I make it there!

I have driven about 400 miles since all cleared up and no problems at all. Guess I got lucky this time .
