Truck has gremlins?
Truck has gremlins?
Lately My truck has been doing something funky, occasionally it acts like the key is turned off and then back on while driving. the worst it did it, the engie died for a split second and then went back to normal.when it came back the dash did the startup lights check. the mildest is just the radio turning off then back on. it seems to do it the most while it is warming up in the morning but is doing it more often lately even when warm. it also seems related to electrical load, if I turn on a turn signal or step on the brakes is when it seems to do it the most. I have looked @ the plugs under the dash to see if anything was loose but I couldn't find anything. this could potentially cause an accident, so I would appreciate a little help!
Thanks!
Thanks!
I don't know if this applies to third gen's or not.

I think this is more serious than a sensor problem, or such. It seems that the whole truck, or the interior, suffers an electrical power loss momentarily. Check the battery cable connections at both ends. Make sure the battery itself is secured and does not bounce up and hit the hood on bumps. Check the alternator wiring and the PDC. It may also be a good idea to unshroud the steering column and check the ignition switch and wiring. Exercise the tilt steering and see if that induces the problem. If you have a remote starter installed, better check its connections, as they are frequently a problem if installed poorly.
That's all I can think of right now. Hope this helps.

The dealer had my dash out this summer to replace/relocate my fin temp sensor so I think that might have something to do with it. While I was looking under the dash I pushed all the plugs I could see and it seemed to not do it as often/severely. I Will check the PDC and under the dash again and see if I can find anything tomorrow. thanks for the input!
I think i found it!
While I was looking for the problem I had the key in the ACC. position and was under the hood. The power input lead on the PCM was HOT, it turns out the nut on the stud for that lead was loose letting the cable break contact with the PDC! I took the connection apart and wire brushed the connections (the cable had arc marks on it), applied dieelectric grease and reassembled it. To test it I started the truck and turned everything on that I could and the cable stayed cool.
This problem might have bee self induced(the truck has wiring for a snowplow and the main power wire to the plow is also attatched @ the PDC) but it might not hurt to check yours to make sure!
