Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

Check your cab mounted brake light. The gaskets go bad and leak causing the floor on that side to get wet. I noticed when I removed mine there is a piece of foam wrapped around the plug, it was soaking wet. I knew I had the source then for sure.

Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

Most have been caused by defective/shifted gaskets around third brake light in rear of cab.
Do you have clearence lights on top of the cab?
The gaskets/screw holes has been the #2 leak causer.

Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

No clearance lights on my rig and the floor is wet on the passenger side under the dash. I would think if the third brake light was leaking, I would have water in the rear as well?

Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

The water runs down the inside of the outside channel and funnels down over the rocker panel and on to the floor right under the passenger seat. When you remove the third brake light you will see how the roof has an inner frame edge for strength turning it to the side. This third brake light leakage has been addressed by DC in a TSB. Very common problem as is the rear window leaking.
Start with the brake light only 2 screws to pull it, if everything is dry and the gasket seals good then go for the hard stuff.

I'll throw this in just as something to check.

Is it just water or could it be anti-freeze? The heater core can leake into the cab if its going bad.

Also, check for leaks around the cowl vents.

These ideas may be a stretch, but just thought I'd offer it as help.

Rich

Not coolant, checked that. Just plain old clear water. My initial hunch was the vents in the cowl leaking, but I have been wrong before!

Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

Sounds like they've got you on the right track Fishin. But I had to add a funny story along this line. A couple of weeks ago I also found water in the floorboard on the passenger side. First thing I thought of was heater core, so I smelled the water. No coolant smell, so must not be heater core. Hadn't been raining that day. What could it be? So I was thinking over and over where could the water have come from? Then I remembered. A couple hours before I had gone to Wal-Mart to get several items, one of which was a gallon of drinking water. In cramming everything into the passenger side floor I had squished the gallon of water enough to break the seal on the lid and leak a small amount into the floor. :

CR

Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

Funny I stumble over this post. I just changed the gasket on my 94 20 min ago. So much water on the floor board , I could push my hand down into the carpet and the water would squish up between my fingers.

Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

Just a quick update on my leaking truck. I dropped my truck off last night at Tacoma Dodge. They said I should have it back by 3 pm today. I had my dad pick me up (he has an '02 as well) to drop me off at the house. On a whim, I checked under his passenger side floor mat before getting in. It was wet too! So, needless to say, we had both rigs dropped off at the same time. The dealer got us a couple of free rental cars and was very apologetic about the whole thing.

I'll keep you all posted on the cause of all this...

Re:WATER IN CAB!!!

Yeah pretty sorry setup on those lights. If they put a stock gasket back on it, keep a close eye on the floor. I made a new one myself from the best gasket material I could find and a little silicone sandwiched between two pieces and left to dry, before I reinstalled it.
So far so good! Good luck!
