I have had a few momentary "dead pedals" a day traveling 200-300miles & towing for a while now. I made it to our winter location in AZ. The last 4 days I have limp mode in the morning (not towing) and need to go 1/2 to 1 mile before it kicks in. Then have occasional "dead pedal" after that! My "limp mode" has NO SMOKE and in neutral will rev up, just no power!

I have codes, pcm 1693, & ecm 0216 that when cleared, will come back.
I have had, 12-14 psi at Vp44 at all times (relocated lift pump to rail 2 yrs ago)
I have calibrated & reset APPS and confirmed good voltage at PCM when limp/DP occurs.
I have removed and inspected PCM for good conn and no cold solder joints
I have confirmed map sensor volts are 1 volt and increases with RPM's, goes to ~1.5 volts in Limp mode under acceleration then ~2.5 when Limp ends???

I have not had the pcm/ecm software re-flashed but at this point I am ready to order a rebuilt VP44. MIDWEST FUEL INJECTION seams to have the best prices and terms. Anyone used them??? Any other companies you would recommend before I spent the $$grand++?????? see my sig for truck info, now 92k miles.

 

You can buy one at a Cummins service center new for less than at a Dodge dealer, same part.

 

I thought since the the VP is no longer being produced that it was impossible to buy a new one anywhere.
All there are are rebuilts.

He has no or VERY few issues with his rebuilds.
