Exclamation vp out of time?? help!!!!!!

well, just installed an so pump on my ho this weekend, and install went flawless, and started without a hiccup, let it idle for a couple hours, and then drove it and everything went smooth...got about 30 miles on the brand new pump, and installed my quad xzt+ (not a wire tap box)...tons of power now, truck is hauling ***...bring her home, and park it. start it up saturday morning, drive it just a bit, and quite a long while after rodding it i go to pull into my driveway and she dies....doesnt want to start up, so i hit it with a bit of ether and she fired up...tons of white smoke, clacking, and lack of power...drive it to checker, and the code They pulled up was 1490 cpk sensor something not agreeing with the ecm, thats the ONLY one they pulled up. key trick pulled up P0230 Fuel Pump Primary Circuit Malfunction and a 1690 which is manufacturer specific and i dont know it. so is my crankshaft postiion sensor bad and thats throwing the truck out of timing??? arent these the symptoms of a truck being out of time? it ran flawlessly for 30 miles, if i had damaged the key while install, wouldnt it have shown up sooner?? please help guys!! it will be appreciated! jake 307.689.7692

Don't know what a "so" pump is for sure. Assume you mean a vp44 fuel injection pump. Sounds like you might get to do job again.

Put the bypass plug on the XZT and see what happens.

well ive diagnosed it (hopefully) as the camshaft position sensor, but the head of the bolt seems to be too lclose to the sensor for me to get a box end wrench on it...btw my pump is installed, in this pic is shows the vp removed. ( bottom of the page) anyone have any suggestions??? http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/mt_2_feb98/Cyl_head.htm

From underneath you might be able to use 1/4 inch drive with a flex extension.

"SO" pump=235 hp VP-44,same as the automatic equipped trucks came with.
"HO" pump=245 hp VP,came with the 6speed trucks.
Apparently the SO pump is more hot-rod-able most with the 6 speed like the torque down low in the RPM band though, and there can be core return issues if you try and return a HO for a SO.
