Violent shake

While driving on an overpass today going straight i went over a minor dip in the road. When this occured my truck violently shook in the front end as if my left front tire was triangular shaped. I took my foot from the gas thinking i would coast to a stop and find a flat tire or something. This caused the shaking to become more severe. I then got on the brakes and pulled off the road. Exactly when i got on the brakes the shaking stopped. I didn't find anything broken on my truck and its running perfect right now. Any ideas what caused this shake? It's as if something came apart and then fit back together again.

Death Wobble...

Run a search...

I had 35" MTRs on my 2500 gasser and it did it at EVERY small bump, put 37"s on it and it went away..

track bar...wheel bearing...tie rod end...most likely track bar...jack the vehicle up and move the steering wheel side to side and look for movement at the track bar end on the drivers side...movement indicates worn link...time to replace...for wheel bearing...jack the one side up...take the wheel from the sides and try and wiggle it...tie rod end is self evident...usually broken boot

i had the same symtoms and it was all of the above: worn track bar and rod ends and on top of that the sector shaft in the gear box was pretty bad too.
BE CAREFUL, i almost crashed b/c of it.

once you get everything back to normal you might want to look into one of those DSS steering stabilizers too. great improvment in handling
