Truck won't start in cold

Hello, Ok I am new to the cold weather and my truck will not stay running. I am in the northeast right now and we just got alot of snow. I drove it this morning twice with no problems but now it will start for a few seconds than hesitate and die. I tried starting it for 10 minutes and nothing. My truck has been plugged in all night and all day. It sounds like fuel starvation so I am wondering if I have some gelling going on but I have no idea. I'm from Texas and never have had to deal with this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are running Texas fuel, you might be gelled. Straight #2 starts getting nasty around 20 degrees from my experience.

There is a product called 911 that can help. Never had to use it, but someone will jump in soon with their ideas.

Can you point a torpedo heater under the truck for a while?

By the way, welcome. I see this is post 2 for you.

Are you out of Corpus? My boy was there for about 2 years doing port security.

Sounds like gelling to me. Power service additive is the best solution I know for that. They sell a product called diesel 911 that is good for getting a gelled truck up and going again.

Thats what I figured but just wasn't sure. I am running local Rhode Island fuel. I thought it would be ok considering there should be some kinda anti-gel additives in it. I will try and locate some of the 911 and see what happens. I really dont have a way to put a heater under the truck. I am from Houston and was lucky enough to get stationed back there for a little while but now I am up here. Thanks Sherod and BPDODGE. Nice to meet ya'll

Rhode Island fuel shouldn't be gelling.
I didn't think the temps in the NE today were much lower than 25F

I just went outside and popped open my fuel filter. i turned the ignition on a couple of times to let the pump cycle and I got nothing but i here it running. I filled up the canister with good fuel and after about 2 minutes of priming it up it started for about 30 seconds and then died again. So I am back to square one. I'm going to wait till tommorow and tackle it again. I think my next option is the diesel 911 or get it towed into my shop at work so that I can thaw the thing out and try it again.

are you pushing the go pedal? Mine wont run unless I touch the pedal due to the idle being too low.

Ok so I got my truck into the shop and did some troubleshooting. I took out the fuel filter and ran the transfer pump and I had nothing coming out so I seperated the supply line under the drivers side cab and put a vacuum pump on it and I got nothing. I blew a little air into the line and tried it again and I got fuel. I hooked it all up and sure as hell it ran fine. I dropped the tank to see whats going on and I found a crap load of sludge choking up the pickup tube. Oh well I'm glad it's fixed. Thanks to everyone who posted.
