I went to strat my truck the other day after it had sat while i was on vacation, and it turned over and fired up just like normal, and then sputtered and died. Cranked on it a few more times and nothing. Pulled the fuel canister of and it was only about half full and the bottom 3/4 was dirty, but the top was clean. I had not been hearing the Lift pump turn on but after i but the filter back in and turned the engine over it would pump for 20-30 seconds and then turn off. I did this a few more times and cracked the feed line for the IP just to see if i was getting any fuel. I wasn't so i took the fuel filter back off and it was still only about 1/2 full. would a pluged filter be the problem or even though the LP is running has it really gone bad. I had the presure check in Nov. and the dealer said it was fine. No, i dont have a FP guage. Any ideas, your thoughts would be welcome and helpful.

Sounds like the lift pump is dead if it's not filling the canister up.

Pull the brass pipe plug out of the top of the filter housing the one toward outside bump the key and let the pump run this port is pre filter if you do not get a good flow of fuel here then it is time for a new lift pump.

AND GET A FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE ON IT NOW!
