Hi everyone, I have a question for you atomatic tranny guys I backed out of my driveway shifted the truck from reverse to drive and heard a clank, kind of like what you here from a u joint that is getting sloppy, the was a small jerk, how it normally feels when it goes into gear and nothing no weird noise no vibrations nothing. If you put into gear you can hear the motor lug for a split second and you can hear it go through the gears but you can not put it back in park without shutting down the engine. Also you can shift the transfer case with the tansmission in any gear with no problem. Can any one give me any info on this, I'm thinking the output shaft of the trans may have broke or maybe transfer case input or I dont know, any help would be great.

 

Sounds like the TC went splang. Drag to favorite local tranny shop, spend money and all will be fine.

 

Sounds like snap ring in transfercase broke. This controls end play of output shaft. Easy check remove driveshaft with a pair of channel locks grab output shaft if it moves in and out snap ring broke.

 

Thanks for your help, I towed it to the tranny shop today I will post what we find wrong. If the snap ring in the t case broke is it repairable or do you need to rebuild the whole thing?
