I was driving to work the other day when I got on it to pass someone i heard a loud clunk and truck stayed running but lost all drivetrain power. I towed it home and checked the u-joints, drive shaft all looked good. I lifted rear end off
of the ground and was able to spin both tires and the drive shaft moved with the truck in park, when i put it in 4H i am unable to spin the rear tires. I have tried putting it in all gears and in 4 wheel drive, checked fluid level and still no go. I think the transmmison is a 48re.

broken transmission output shaft or transfer case input problem. pull transfer case and try to turn trans output shaft in park. if it turns, time to pull trans

Thanks Bill- I pulled the transfer case and it is the output shaft. I took the Overdrive unit to the shop today for a new output shaft.
