Exclamation Truck STOPPED MOVING !! Cairo/Catskill NY

HELP, In dads 98.5 24v Got off i-78 and went up hill (o/d off) about 3 miles when the r's went way up and then nothing, no forward/reverse 2wd or 4wd. Trans dipstick has fluid on it on the hill in park engine running but cant do much more as we are part on the road tow is on the way and looking for things to check once we get off the road. Anybody in the area?
MORE INFO:
Trans fluid is clear and does not smell burnt....sounding broke !
After sitting for a while for the tow, still no movement in any gear.
Will be going back to look at the truck tonight to tomorrow am, any other suggestions?

Right off the top there are just a couple things I can think of that you could do along side of the road , most everything els , your would need to remove the trans .
Shift linkage may have come undone , next remove the trans pan [ have 4-6 qts of ATF before you drop the pan ] , I've seen were the 2 parts for the ft band fall [ trans needed adjustment ] and or break .
Hopefully more help on the way .

Tranny is a 47RE and was towing a 4 horse goose neck up a hill after 5 hrs of towing, there was no slipping, just power then nothing but R's.

Torque conv would be real nice...easier fix I guess.
How did you find out it was the t/c? Have to take it apart first?

Were there any unusual noises when this happened?
This is a long shot, but put the emergency brake on, start the engine and put it in gear, any gear. Look underneath and see if the driveshaft is turning. You do still have a driveshaft don't you?
Two things other than tranni or TC that can cause the truck not to move is a broken u-joint or a stripped rear end. I do not think either of these things happened in your case, as you would have heard some strange noises, but the above check will prove or disprove that.
If the driveshaft is not turning when it is in gear, even in 4wd with the engine running, then probably one of three things has happened; 1) the tranni died, 2) the flex plate broke or most probably 3) the TC died.
When you shut off the engine, just as it stops and rocks a little, is there any clicking noises?

Thanks guys, Mikes Dad here...I will be going up Sunday to look at the truck, they said it want from all to nothing instatnly, no noises, no slipping, no clunking. Yes they did check the drive shaft and U joints and they are there, they did not put it in gear to look for the blown rear although they did try 4WD and got nothing also. The truck is now in the towing co yard and the family got the horse trailer towed to the destination.
Unfortunately I was able to borrow a friends Powerstroke to go get them and the trailer tomorrow...hope i dont have to tow the Ram home behind the F-thingy!

Although I know it is a manual transfer case, could it have slipped into neutral and/or linkage come apart causing transfer case to be in neutral? Have him try manually shifting the t-case and see if it might move then? Like I said, just trying out ideas....nothing I know for sure.

One thing I know is I will never own another slush box for this reason I my self got stranded on the side of highway 197 with six head of horses because of a failed auto trans. What happen in my case was the junk factory torque converter fins that are in the converter that are just folded over the sun shell and thats it just sit there loose and after time they come unfolded and destroy things in there wake. When mine when down about three of the fins came loose went though the sun shell on the converter and though some of the gears.

Thanks Jason
