truck hasn't been started in a few years

hey guys the search feature is not working (again) on my puter
bought a 95 cummins & been putting new fuel lines & brake lines etc. It sat outside & hasn't been started since prob 2005. Is there a way to run the oil pump mechanically or something before firing it up?
also is it a good idea, or pretty much required to crack open the injector lines until fuel comes out etc. before starting it? do you crack the lines at the injector pump or over by where they bolt into the intake manifold?? trying to get it started at the mechanics shop today asap (hes fixing the non diesel stuff & we need to get it fired up).
thanks thanks thanks

If it were me i'd crack all six lines, where they go into the head, and spin it over to get oil pumped throughout the engine without it firing as well as bleed the lines all at once.

You can pre-lube the engine by pumping oil into the 1/8" fitting on top of the filter. That is where my pre-luber dumps oil into the engine and I have always had oil pressure when I cranked. The oil pump is driven by the gear train under the front cover..........I have no idea how you could prime it with that system unlike the old distributor-bit systems on chevy/ford set ups. Just make sure you filter the oil first so you don't pump any abrasive stuff into the journals. I would also crack the fuel lines at the injectors to get some fresh fuel in the lines. Better have a battery charger attached because it will take a lot of juice/amps to move the fresh fuel through. Do this after you have changed the fuel, fuel filter, oil, oil filter, and primed fresh fuel up to the injector pump.
