Truck Is Down Need Help
Ecm Shut Down Fuel Pump-wait To Start-running In Limp Mode.... Now Have New Ecm And Pump-wait To Start Work Great But Truck Still Runs Rough Like In Limp... Codes Are 253 252 251 Thanks
We need to know what kind of truck you have, etc.
All three codes are injector pump related. Have you tried to reset the codes and see if they go away. If you don't have the use of a scan tool, disconnect the ground cable on BOTH batteries, turn the key to the "on" position, and let it set for an hour or so. Then, turn the key off, reconnect the batteries and try it again and see what it does. You're injector pump is going out, but there is a chance it might just be a fluke that set the codes.
Good Luck,

Hmmmm, Most likely the injector pump bitting the dust or ECM shot. I'm afraid you'll have to take it to a dealer (
) or diesel shop to have it checked. If you have good fuel pressure to the IP, that's PROBABLY about all it can be, considering the codes.

P0251 - Injector Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Malfunction (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0252 - Injector Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Rang/Performance (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0253 - Injector Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Low (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
I can't translate these for you, but it has to do with the VP44.
There are a lot of VP44 tales on here. Some say they were OK after a few miles with a dead LP, and others say theirs died with no warning. No easy answer for that one............

If it is dead, but still allowing fuel to pass it may not kill anything (in the short term).
The safe answer is YES, you will kill your Injection Pump without an operable LP.
