Need HELP ASAP! Truck down

My father in-law got some bad fuel in his 06 3500. He got it towed to the dealer and they are quoting him $9200 in repairs. I dont have the details for what work would be done. Are there any good diesel tech's, that are not in a dealership, in sourthern Misissippi, he is near Kiln, that he could take the truck to and have them take a look?

unless he has some major miles on the truck and/or it has been bombed, it should be under warranty... need more particulars and ALL mods to the truck. 9,200 sounds like they want to do a long block...

does he have damage? not running?
what are his symptoms?

if he has no damage, i dunno nothing, but here goes...

i opened the yellow drain valve on the fuel filter clear drain hose. (i put a piece of hose on it to run it to a bucket)

and cycled the key off and on (you get a few seconds pump run on key ON to prime the system)

i pumped 15 gallons of Super Unleaded out of my tank like that.

put in a quart of oil (lubrication)

went back gas station, filled up on diesel again,
ran quart of oil with each tank for next few tanks.

no worries

hth?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Liquids that can get through filter are most dangerous. What kind of bad fuel? Gasoline, red diesel, water, sugar? Have a sample analyzed for insurance help or libalibity from fuel source.
Sounds like they are going for the complete keep it in warranty bit. Generally drop and throughly clean tank. Flush lines, replace filter are good starters for recovering. All to frequently the tech that catches these is not familiar enough with unit and shot guns it for his security.

There are no mods on the truck, completely stock. The truck has been sitting for for for a few weeks. He said he drove it to a friends house and had no issues. When he got back in to leave, it would crank but would not start. The dealership told him it was bad fuel, they found water in the lines, manifold, injectors, etc. They also said damage caused by bad fuel is NOT covered under warranty.

BTW, I am in Colorado so I cannot help him, and he cannot do any of the work himself, even if it is just draining, flushing, and putting in new fuel.

I would take to another dealer/shop and get a second opinion.
Otherwise put a claim on insurance, they should cover an issue like this.

A couple years ago, I got pure water from a station that forgot to put the cap back on the tanks. This was in the winter-it rained that day, and then everything froze that night. $4200 later, it was fixed, and the gas station paid for everything willingly.
