Truck that dislikes reverse

Truck that dislikes reverse
Stats: 04, dodge, diesel, 1 tonne, automatic, dually, 120 000 km (yes I am canadian)
Problem: When you start the truck and shift it into reverse before going into drive (as if to back out of driveway) then the truck has loss of power. You can press on the accelerator and the RPMs increase as they should but its like its stuck in first gear.
Currently solving this problem by putting truck in neutral or park and restarting. At which point if you shift it into drive it acts normally.
Local Dodge dealer has no suggestions other than washing the underside of the truck!
Any ideas???

It could be a number of things, low fluid, bad electric connection, busted seal on the servo piston, servo piston cracked or cocked sideways, lever busted...you get the picture. Either drop the pan and get a 48RE shop manual or take it somewhere...its worth the money to take it somewhere if you've never done trans work.
