Trouble with Cruise

I have noticed lately when drivin to work i get out on the highway set the cruise, and it surges i guess you would say. It will drop 1-2 MPH down and then rebound back up to the speed i have it set at. You can really notice it with the turbo boost it will go from about 6 PSI to 10-11 psi as it catches back up i this normal for the truck?

Did the cruise work fine before you added the Juice?

I know once I added my Smarty, the cruise is unusable it surges so much.

There's a fix involving putting a WD40 red straw in the vaccum line at the cruise servo under the battery.
I just haven't had the ummph to get out and try it.

There is a surge associated with a condition called 'slack throttle' or some such, anyways, that can happen if you get up to speed, let off the throttle(like coast a bit) and then set it. The TPS/ECM reads it as slack cable and tries to compensate with too little, then too much throttle initially. The manual says be careful to hold a steady speed when setting the cruise to avoid this. Now if it is just beginning to do this regardless how you have the pedal, it may indicate an upcoming problem with the cruise transducer, or maybe even the vacuum supply hose to it. Also check to make sure the cruise control cable isn't binding where it attaches beside the throttle cable. Just some ideas, I'm sure someone will confirm/supply others. Hope you can find the cause and get 'er done! I have become so dependent on my cruise I find myself setting it between traffic lights! Probably never be able to go long-distance on the highway w/o it these days. Man, am I spoiled, or WHAT??!! ;-)

I have the same problem from time to time especially when it is cold in the morning. Even if the cruise if not engaged at about 55-60 MPH steady throttle the truck will surge or more acuratly studder. There is no change in boost or TGT. I get no codes or any other indication other than feel. I am piggybacking your post since it is the closest problem to mine I could find and we have similar trucks.....It ahs been going on a while but I can find no answers....any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine started doing the same thing after adding power mods. Just figured I'd have to live with it.

there is a cure , get a spray tube from a wd 40 can and put about a 1/2 inch in the vacuum line to the cruise ... it restricts the vacuum and slows the response and lessens the surging.
