Needing trouble shooting steps for cruise control
I've done a bunch of searches and can't really find what I'm looking for.Truck is a 98 12 valve. It would be great to have a dyi step by step.I've cleaned the servo contacts, finger tip wet installed then with marvel oil, changed a couple of vacuum elbow pieces, took cover off steering wheel checking for the obvious, changed brake light switch, installed new from mopar, tps. What I cannot find in haynes manual is wire color chart, what fuse? is for the cruise, wire values,as what color is for what? exc.Light on dash comes on but no cruise, was working last year but hunted, and wondered up and down alot.Have siatica in my right leg, trying to get around, the cruise would be very helpful, I get scared riding with my wife.

Much as I hate to spend money, the FSM is invaluable for these trucks, especially the 98 as there were some variables during the year.
Genos Garage has new FSM's on CD for 35 bucks, I like it because I can go to the section, read up, then print out just the pages I want.

yes it can make even a blind man a good welder. lol
sadly I weld like a blind man. its even better when you can print the page that has the correct part and bring it to the parts guy at the dealership that says I cant find that on my computer.

Hi patdaly. Are these manuals diesel specific or do they cover every configuration made for the specific year. I have a supposedly FSM that I paid for as a pdf download for my 99 and it covers the years 99-01 and all configurations. Would be nice to have one that is diesel specific.
The only number on the pdf is "12260706" but I don't know if it is a publication number or the sellers item number.

They are specific to the year though, I can't say I have EVER seen a genuine Dodge manual cover more than a single year, there are enough revisions........
My 97 Manual from Genos is exactly the same as the real paper FSM 97 manual I got from when my buddys Dodge dealership closed.
Well the ones from Geno's must be different than the one I have because mine covers 99-01.
This is the name of the pdf:
No publication number at all.
I think I will order one from Geno's. Never can have too many service manuals I always say.
Thanks patdaly

Very similar
I think part of it is the manuals we buy are put out by Mopar Restoration Parts, not DC.
Here are first and last page, the major difference is yours shows DC and mine shows Chrysler Corp.

If you want, on your 2001 section we could compare an individual page to see what the specific differences might be.......

well i received my bishko authentic reproduction cd manual. I've been trying to mess around and figure out where the problem is. I have not been succesfull.
I checked for power at servo, had none, jumped a wire from brake switch plug, made juice, so reset brake switch. That brought 12v down to the servo, weird the switch was set proper for the tail lights to go out but would not let juice for the cruise through.I re disassembled servo checked to be sure cable moved, and wasn't broken, nothing there, that was fine.Installed battery tray, and battery.
Went for a road trip, got above 40 and hit set, nothing.A new problem now, when truck hits overdrive, abs and brake = lights come on ,this keeps getting better all the time, very unsure what to do now, I must admit I struggle with wiring, unsure what to try next, I only can work for a lil bit, herniated disc does not make me very mobile.I pulled every fuse on the truck none blown, could not find the info on what fuse controls the cruise.
