transfer case removal
transfer case removal
I am preparing to replace the rear transmission seal (just before the transfer case), and I don't have any manuals showing the removal and replacement procedure for the transfer case and seal. Can anyone give me a link, picture or instructions for this procedure? I probably can bumble my way thrugh it OK, but flying blind can be hazardous. It is a 47RE automatic transmission. Thanks, Charlie.
#1 BLOCK WHEELS
#2 Remove front and rear driveshaft
#3 Disconnect transfer case linkage (pops off)
#4 Unplug vacuum lines and wires
#5 Loosen 6 9/16" bolts that mate the transfer case to the tranny
#6 If you have a skid plate, you can just drop the t-case onto that when you pull the 6 bolts out.
Pulling the seal out is the easy part.
*also, you do not need to remove the front driveshaft from the t-case if you don't want to. you still have to disconnect it from the front axle though.)
