Trans won't shift into OD
Trans won't shift into OD
As of this morning my truck will not shift into OD. I have scheduled a warrenty service call for Monday morning at the dealer I bought it from to take care of this problem.

My question is it ok to drive it for extended periods of time at 2,500 RPM. I have some driving that I have to do this weekend and I could possibly use another vehicle if you say not to drive my truck. I'm kind of thinking that the only thing that will suffer is my fuel mileage but I want to make sure first.

Thanks
Re:Trans won't shift into OD
No, you won't have a problem at that rpm. If you are like me, I have a hard time running it like that. I don't like the sound above about 2100 rpm. I am on ex truck driver and it was drummed into my head "Keep the rpm between 1500 and 2100". I also have to put the pedal close to the floor for that high of rpms.
Tom
Re:Trans won't shift into OD
The engine can easily handle the rpm. Fuel economy will suck!

I have one of the new 03 automatics used in a commercial agricultural business with over 78,000 miles, and zero problems, so would be real interested to know what the dealer tells you.
Re:Trans won't shift into OD
To add to my woes I found out this morning that the cruise control will not work either. When I push the cruise on button the readout does not light up. Not sure if these two things (cruise and OD) have something in common but I will post whatever the dealer says was the problem and how it was fixed.
