Trans fluid change

I'm getting ready to change my tranny fluid, is it a good idea to just change what's in the pan? I was going to drop my pan, measure the fluid then replace the amount measured with new? Also Advance carries ATF+4 full synthetic, would it hurt to use that even though it'll mix with some of the old fluid still in the system? Thanks

usually a tranny fluid change is just whats in the pan. check the manual to see how much to put back in. mixing conventional and synthetic wont hurt.

Well I figured there will still be some in the VB and TC, that's why I thought if I just measured and filled back up with the amount taking out it'll be ok. 10-4 on the synthetic, I'm off to the store.
