I suggest that you call all the "big three" (ATS,DTT,Suncoast) and see if they have an authorized repair facility near by. At least then you will have some info as to the quality of work done there. BTW, My arm is somewhat better so we STILL need that meeting!!

I'm in VA and the last time I was at the Cummins place they suggested Virginia Beach Dodge. 757-463-6100 I have not worked with them myself, but the Cummins guys seem to like them. For what that’s worth.
Timinva and 46mech on this board live in Va-beach and would know. Give them a PM they are both good guys. You can find both of them here: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=39258
And if you are not a member of a chapter join ours its Free. See the https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...php?forumid=96 area and read anything to do with VA. You can contact Dieseldude4x4 he is our president, RATTLINRAM our vice president, or Timinva the Secretary of other important stuff. It is kind of like a local area support group.
Welcome and good luck.

Tom is finally fit as a fiddle and itching for a beating. Well, I will have to pass on that one. I just can't muster the energy to hurt you all over again.
Bill, thank you sir and I'll be getting in touch with those you posted. I am glad to report that after some head scratching and bleeding from every angle. We got her back on the road. She still wants to stick 2nd but very seldom and we experience alittle clutch chatter also. I think the cold weather and no bleeders on the master or the slave had a lot to do with it. Tom, you'll just have to wait for the battle and as my son tells me all the time. If you want it bad enough, you'll just have to come on over to the house of pain and knock on the door.

I have more news and another thank you. Infidel, thanks for the link and it will be saved to my desk top soonest. The tranny ended up going in for a new clutch and boy did it need it. Pretty rainbows and an all but missing throwout bearing or pilot or bearing or whatever you call it now adays. My bud got it all done for around 800$ and is pleased so far. Can't post who did it but will PM anyone who would like the information. The springs were just rattlin around like a baby rattle, kinda cool to see and hear. This guy told my buddy that down shifting was the main cause of premature wear on CTD 5 speeds. Any validity to that statement and if so or not. How about the 6 speeds clucth. I have used engine braking my entire life along with downshifting to save on brakes but if it kills 800$ clucthes......
I'd rather replace the worn out brake parts and feel safe that my clutch will hold up. My clutch has almost 200k on it and still feels fine after all my abuse. Guess this will be a judgement call and I doubt I'll change my driving habbits now anyway. Thanks from my friend and me for all that you guys and gals have done over the past year. Hope to be of some help to someone out there soon and not have to be asking for anymore help on my truck for awhile.
