Trailer light circuit
My truck lights are all working but the left hand trailer lights are not. The trailer is not the problem and the plug is not as I took it apart and tested it. While checking for a fuse I noticed that the trailer lights haver their own fuse. The fuse was fine. the problem is not with the fuse. Does anyone know of any other connections under the truck between the fuse and the back where I could be having a problem? I'd like to try and find it before I take it to the dealer. I also can't seem to find the signal relay anyone know where it is?
Thanks

There are different fuses for all the trailer lights. Left side, right side, and I think also brake lights. Look closely at the cover to find all the fuses. I ripped apart all the wiring on a flatbed trailer with the same problem just to find one of the fuses had gone bad..

Thanks Dodgezilla, but like I said I have checked all of the fuses, they are ok. It is in the wiring somewhere in the truck. Just wondering if someone knows if there are relays for the trailer lights and if they know where any other connections are.

Are both the truck and trailer grounded to the same ground? I've had the problem trying to wire lights when the trailer is not connected directly to the truck.

The trailer Lights are not the problem, yes the trailer and truck were connected when I discovered the problem. I have checked the plugs the fuses the bulbs.
I HAVE narrowed it down to between the fuse and the plug.

Are the wires under the truck in a loom? Can you trace it from the plug to the front of the truck? Is it or has it been pinched anywhere?
I understand your frustrations.....been there.

Did you just look at your fuses or did you actually replace them? Sometimes the fuse looks fine but has gone bad. Good luck if it's the wiring! Have you tested the plug to see if there is juice there? Also test the 4-way plug up under the bumper. If there's juice there but not at the 7-way plug then the plug may be bad....

I have the same question that Dodgzilla has....did you get voltage at the plug(s) on the truck? You have implied that you have but you haven't actually said, "I put a voltmeter/test light on the pins of my truck's trailer connector and the left turn signal pin is dead".

Hondo, did you remove the 7-pin RV receptacle from the bumper? It has a 10 pin connector on the front end of it. Unplug it and using a meter or a test light check each pin for voltage when on. I'm betting one of the pins has pushed out the back side. Easy to fix. If you need the pinouts schematic I can provide them for a 2003. Probably the same pins but may be a dfferent color, I'm not sure.

I had the same problem. It turned out the one of the wireing harnesses had a short and had to be replaced. I'm still waiting for the dealer to get the harness in.

Pretty funny that I just hooked my trailer up last week and I have the same exact problem. All the fuses are fine but there is no juice at the plugs, 7 pin or 4 pin. If I can't find it pretty easily, I'm just going to tap into my trucks taillight assembly. My running lights work just not the LH stop or turn signal. With the lights on, if I pull the fuse then push it back in, you can tell that there's juice there. On another note, it seems that my trailer brakes aren't working either!! When it rains it pours........

I am calling the dealership tomorrow to see if the new fuse/relay block is in. They are going to replace the whole thing under warranty. I will let you know how it turns out.
