Timing marks for IP gear!

1st gen intercolled 5.9 auto. seperated the IP gear with a puller. It seperated HARD, and poped violentlly. Re-sealed the pump, added a 3200 spring, bled the lines, but no start. Tries to fire on 1st comp stroke, but nothing after that. Plenty of fuel at injectors. Pushed pump to head, fired up, runs like crap and tons of white smoke. Pulled timing face off to see if the IP gear could have bounced around a tooth or so, but cannot find a timing diagram for the ve pumped 5.9.
Please help!
Thanks.

You pretty much have to crank the engine over with the pump off to make the gear skip. "C" on the cam gear mates with "E" on the pump gear if you want to check it.

I bet when you put it back together you smooshed the key. Pull the gear again and have a look.

Key way looks great. The IP gear was between G and D. We put it at E and it fired, after retarding the pump to the bottom. I read a post earlier while searching to do this to gain additional advance, which is ok, I just want it back "straight up". By the way, The pump was initially leaking at the governor shaft nut at the front of the pump. I backed out the shaft far enough to get the o-ring off and new one on. Counted 8 turns out. Does it matter if it was spun back in 8 1/2 turns? diddnt seem to bottom out, but I think it turned a little when I tightened the lock nut.
Thanks for the big help!

Shouldn't matter any.

I am very surprised the gear jumped, that rarely happens.

Looks like that did the trick. If anything odd or off the wall can happen, it'll happen to me?
Thanks for your help!
