Aligning Timing Marks on fuel pump

so i got my pump back from the repair shop and im in the process of re-installing it and im at the point of lining up the timing marks, the mark on the pump and the mark on the flange are about 1/32 out and i cant get the pump any closer to line up with the mark on the flange. Now is it ok if it is out by this much or do they have to be exactly aligned?

Why won't they line up? Have you tightened anything down yet?

First, did you unlock your pump? If not, do so as soon as you get the nut on the shaft.

Then, before hooking up any lines, line up your marks where you want them.

1/32" shouldnt be more than .01-.03mm; not much difference, but still enough difference if the pump is lower than the gear housing.

Ditto that, it sounds like your pump is still locked. Not good if you try to start it that way.
