Timing or fueling issue

Let’s set the stage, about a month ago I purchased a 1997 2500, 12 valve p pump with 200k and a new injection pump, guy I got it from said it had 50hp injectors( I’m new to diesels so forgive my possible arrogance and lack of good terminology) anyway, truck had a horrific tappet cover leak, shop wanted a grand to fix and I wasn’t having non of it. So took it upon myself to replace it, and it worked, leak was fixed, set to stock timing, bleed the system and took her for a spin. However on said spin she had just got to operating temp, then boom, engine had low reduced power and was chugging white smoke, figured the timing slipped, today I got it off, cleaned it with contact cleaner and set it again. While it will idle, now it only idles at a very low speed. And still puffs white smoke, while not as much, I’m thinking lack of fuel pressure or a screwy injector, I already checked linkages, and truck won’t accelerate in park past 820rpm, let off and it dies
