pump timing math = ?
pump timing math = ?
Im trying to set the timing on 94 auto.I dont have the adapter to screw in pump,so Im using a mag-mount.What I can't get is the amount of travel I thank it should have? The dial reads 3.6mm rolling it up to TDC and 1.6mm after TDC.I checked TDC two ways and it's on the money.I've tryed rotating the eng.both ways and still come up with a total of 5.35mm and timing should be set at 5.7 plunger lift at TDC. I dont know much about the truck picked it up used.I do know its had timing played with maybe retarted?
Needs some help thanks!

Pump Timing
As long as that 3.6mm is measured from plunger minimum (cam peak) I would take that as the current timing advance to TDC. There is no keyway on gear to shaft coupling that relies on the taper fit and torque only - this is notorious for slipping if not dry(use brake clean spray) when putting back on. With retarded timing you should see some white smoke and poorer mileage?Especially white smoke when cold.
