Throttle return spring

Anyone,

On my way home tonight, it seems as though a spring that helps the throttle return to the closed position came loose from one of it's attachment points (please excuse the technical jargon!) The throttle doesn't stick open when you put the pedal down, but it doesn't return to idle very quick if you put the clutch in and leave it for a sec but it will in a few seconds. Got under the hood and found the spring dangling from one end. My question is, where does it attach to? I have it attached to a small bracket that provides enough tension on it to return it back to the closed position but I don't think its the correct way to do it. It's got a small hook that doesn't look like it's going to hold to well in its current location and I don't want to have to keep re-attaching it! It's a '94 SLT.

Thanks for your help!

Re:Throttle return spring

The main throttle spring end connects to the lower bellcrank at the back of the throttle rod, and down by the power steering filler on the front end. If you look near the bottom of the power steering filler neck, right above the tank, and on the engine, you will see the bracket for the spring's hook.

Diagrams are always better than me trying to describe it!

On mine the hook on the end of the spring broke off! From the dealer it was $8.00 Cdn. Easy to replace when you see where it has to go back on.

Re:Throttle return spring

Gentleman,

Thanks you very much for your help. I will give it a shot tomorrow after work. The GIF file is of tremendous help too.

Rattlerattle, what shops are around Vancouver that you would recommend visiting? I'll be up there around X-Mas (my wife is from the mission/maple ridge area) and thought I might kill sometime checking out some shops and products as opposed to hanging around with the in-laws. Seems like there are a few shops in Abbotsford, no?

Thanks,

DR

Re:Throttle return spring

I've replaced both of those springs on each of our trucks. I guess they have a habbit of snapping? There cheap from the *******. We each keep an extra in our trucks now. It takes all of 30seconds to install. If you have any unanswered questions still just PM me
