Throttle Cable Problem
Throttle Cable Problem
Howdy All, My problem is that when I step on the GO pedal Hard(WOT) the throttle cable pops off the lever on the injector pump. This "POP OFF" is getting to be more frequent and during rush hour it can be dangerous. Is there a fix or adjustment for this problem or should I buy a ney cable?
Thanks
Thanks

Recall item
That happened to me recently on the highway... I took a zip tie to mine and hasnt failed since, but since i have no time to get it to dealership, it will have to stay that way..
Cheap fix... cable tie
proper fix... new cable or recall factor...

I had the same problem with my 94, there is a recall on that. I didnt want the truck to be tied up so i just bought the part, but i believe the recall includes replacing the bell-crank part of the linkage as well. The original sockets on the linkage were plastic and wore out easily, the new ones are steel. There were a few other recalls I had done, so look into it.
The secondary hood latch was one, and for another, the front spring mounts had issues of tearing away from the frame. They weld on a brace to repair it, and the ignition switches burn up. The blower motors were overloading the switch on AC-high, so they replace the switch, and add a relay overlay kit to take the load off the switch. Oh yea, something about the lower part of the steering column, I forget exactly what it was, but something about keys getting stuck, (other keys on your key ring while driving). Anyway, they replaced the lower part of my column.
There may be a few others, but they were the main ones I had done. Someone on another post was asking about mileage limits on recalls, there are none. In fact, my truck was a total loss before I got it, I got it from the insurance auction and repaired so it has a reconstructed title, but factory recalls apply to ALL vehicles, no matter how old, clean or recon titles. An R-title voids any existing warranties, not recalls.
