I could be wrong, but I thought when the 3rd gen lift pumps die, they usually won't let fuel be drawn through.

Air Dogs are still on sale for $499.
Your gonna have to drop the tank no matter what. Get the AD150 and the new canister plumbing and be done with it.

The only two "dead" in tank lift pumps I've seen were wiring issues.

One a guy bought from a used car lot. Truck died out in the desert. Got towed in... There was no FUSE in the fuse holder for the in tank pump. Customer had some other electrical issue with the truck and the used car lot "mechanic" pulled the fuse out. They thought it was for some kind of aftermarket alarm or something. Good thing they didn't cut the wiring and remove the relay too.

Other one would die intermittantly. Duplicated the prob and found the filter housing only half full. Found that one had a corroded connector up toward the front of the truck that caused high resistance on the ground side of the pump. Added a new ground and it was good to go.

Not saying they will "never" fail, but for how long they have used the in tank pump now, and the amount of non failures I've encountered, I'm pretty much sold on them.

Mine were the pump motor......not the wiring. Each lasted about 90,000 miles.

I was wrong.......after checking my records, the original firewall mounted FP went out at 128,000 miles. The in tank replacement (dealer installed) went out 91,000 miles later. I know of several folks who have lost the in tank version. No wiring problems.....just dead FP.
