My 02 began to surge the other day and seems to be getting worse. At around 1400 rpms or little less, between 40 and 50 mph, giving a little more pedal and it stops and it does not happen everytime. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Auto 4x4 quadcab. thanks.

 

Have you checked the fuel filter? If that is fine, it's probably your fuel pump and/or injection pump (VP44). Is it throwing any codes?

 

The surging begins once your tranny shifts into overdrive? You accelerate slow and it surges. If you accelerate at a faster rate, in which case the tranny will shift into overdrive at a higher RPM, is the surging still there?

Also, are any mods done to your truck that increase the amount of fuel being injected into the engine?

 

No codes as of yet, I going to get a filter in the am and have the tranny serviced monday. Today I cleaned the battery cables after the ABS flashed several times and added 16oz DIESEL KLEEN, then went for a short ride no ABS flash and no surges either, yet. I'll keep a watch on the codes TLDC and Dinner I have 101500 miles and realized it's been about two years since I had the tranny serviced, I have no mods she is just a plain jane and I love how she pulls my son-in-law's F-250's out of trouble time after time.
