Starting problems

I have a 96 and a 98 Dodge Diesel dually's. About 2 months ago, the 98 became hard to start, would crank a few seconds then start. Then it died once and didn't start again, hauled it to Dodge dealership, they said it needed a new lift pump. Replaced it, but truck was still hard to start. Now BOTH trucks won't start they both act exactly the same way. Crank, crank , crank and nothing. They both will fire right off with Eather (sp). Both run like scalded apes once started. I pull a horse trailer with both these trucks, and have no problems with power, once started. Any suggestions on what this might be?

sounds like your getting air into the fuel system somehwhere, but first check the fuel return pressure check valve on the fuel return line leaving the IP.

Check the rubber fuel lines which are known to crack and suck air.

Replace the rubber line in red below with 5/16" diesel rated hose.
You will need about two feet. Removing the fuel filter makes it easier, have a replacement on hand.
