Spirattic white smoke and no power

I need some help guys! I am driving along and let off of the throttle to about half throttle, when I accelerate again just alot of white smoke and no power. After a little accelerator pumps it clears up. It has been starting to happen more often. It also seems to be more previlent after start up. I have no fuel pressure gage installed. I am thinking it may be the waste gate sticking? I just hope its not the vp44 beginning to go. Any thoughts? Thanks

Sounds like the VP44. What codes do you have? If it's P0216, then it's time for a new VP44.

Sounds pretty severe to be a fuel pressure problem, but that's what I'd check first.

Good morning, I checked the codes and got a P0216 Injection timing control circuit malfunction. Does this mean the vp44 is gone or could somthing else cause this code.

Ihave had a P0216 code happening now for about 2 months. I occasionally had a blip in power under acceleration with a puff of blue smoke. I changed out my lift pump and the problem has all but ceased. I still have the P0216 but since mine is out of warranty, I am gonna ride the chiuahua till it finally falls over dead. My 2 months of driving has racked up over 10000 miles too.....

Good luck,

Gary
