Somethings up

I was driving home and just felt like something wasn't right with my truck. Seems to be running but something just isn't all there. It didn't throw any codes. I looked under the hood and the air filter looks like it sucked down to nothing. When I shut the truck down, it kept hissing air. It kept hissing for about 30 seconds or so like it was loosing air somewhere. The air filter hasn't been on long but looks pretty dirty. Is that my issue or am i having somthing else going on.

a bad fuel filter can hurt your performance too... if your filter is dirty, change it.

sounds like it was starving for more air. I would think running twins you'd need enough air to power a small jet engine.

Just changed the fuel filter about 2000 miles ago. Can a clogged air filter create a vacuum in the system?

stupid question but was your ac running or on defrost? try running it a lil while without the ac or defrost on and see if it still hisses after shutdown.

ac was running, didn't sound like it was that. I just got done washing my filter. wow. lots of dirt. i figured i'd start the truck with the filter off, and the hiss wasn't there. i am guessing filter was my issue. i should know more tomorrow when i put the filter back on and drive the truck.

If your filter minder was sucked down, then that means that you have a flow restriction. Good deal on washing the filter out.

The hissing could have been your AC... pretty normal.

See what she feels like with a clean filter.

The minder is your friend.
If you don't have one get one.
There is no way to tell if a filter is plugged up by looking at it. I've seen the filters on my tractors with two inches of dust on them not restricting the flow at all but a layer of Mt St Helens ash that you couldn't hardly see would pull the minders all the way down.
