slipping at high RPM
slipping at high RPM
I have noticed the Diesel seems to be missing/chugging when I have a load on or get close to 2500 RPM. if it was gas I might say fuel pump/filter but I have no idea about the Diesel's. any help would be great. better if its something I can fix myself.

Re:slipping at high RPM
If you have changed the fuel filter and it still does it and you are still under warranty take it to the dealer and have them run a fuell pressure test. The fuel pressure should not be less then 10 psi at idle according to the specs in the cummins book
Re:slipping at high RPM
I might be wrong but I know the 12v the fuel cutoff point is around 2500 or so rpm. Which cause the engine to bog down. The only way to go above this is by putting a 3K or 4K spring kit in it. However I'm not sure if this is the case in the 24v. Just a suggestion....
Re:slipping at high RPM
The second gen 24V began defueling at about 2800 - 2900 rpm, governed at 3K. His is a 2001, so he should not be getting defueling at 2500 rpm - something is wrong. Like Rich-Cowboy said, try changing the fuel filter, then if it still does it take it to a dealer or a diesel shop and have the lift pump tested - at idle it should be 10 - 14 lbs at idle on the 2nd gen trucks. If getting clean fuel at major truck stops, filter should be good for about 12K miles, at off brand stops or quick mart gas stations with diesel pumps, probably have to change it more frequently.
