Slight Overfill

Today I was talking to my buddy while refilling my transmission with fluid. As I was adding the last quart I meant to check it halfway but was too busy shootin' the breeze as it were and dumped the whole quart in. I figure that I have half a quart too much in the pan. I know that you are not supposed to overfill the tranny. Question is.. is half a quart nothing to worry about or should I get it out?

Hittin the road for an early season bowhunt in Kentucky and would rather not have any problems. Thanks

Hondo

If it looks frothy on the dipstick after running for awhile you best drain some out.
I've often heard overfull can do more damage than under.

A pint overfill will hurt absolutelly nothing. In fact I run my tranny a pint overfull to eliminate a droping out of gear occasionally. I must have a small leak into pump and the extra fluid keeps it covered. It has not dropped out in over 10,000 miles.

I heard.....

I heard a long time ago the problem with overfilling an automatic tranny had to do with expansion of the fluid and "burping" the stuff out the fill/check tube right onto a hot exhaust system. As for the pump it should not hurt anything. cd
