side of the road, posting from my phone

AAA is on the way. Their is fuel dripping from the engine. I was driving along the road when i smelled this weird oder next thing i know there the cab is full of fumes and a fine mist. I am hoping it is just the line. I did not have any lights or warnings. My wife and kids are in the car and now they are spooked. Any one ever heard of this?

Thanks madhat, is something that typically has to be handled by the dealership?

No, you can change the line out pretty easy... 16mm wrench? You'll need to get that line from a dealer, tho... I'd buy two, a lot of guys carry a spare. Do a little research when you get home, I'm not super familiar with the issue.

You can buy the line directly from Cummins for half the price you will pay at the dealer. As Mark stated it is very easy to change yourself. So if you have a Cummins shop locally or if you buy it from the dealer you can still change it yourself. You should also check the isolator bolts on all the lines to make sure they are tight.

Thanks guys, it was creepy with all the rapture talk when the mist of diesel fuel filled my truck. Seemed like out of a movie....

I have the rig at the dealership and once they confirm that is the case and have it towed back so I can work on it.

Thanks again guys, this is the first place I go when something goes awry and I can always depend on good info. This is a great community.

Had the exact same thing happen to me with 30K on the truck. Was pulling a U-haul trailer and the truck loaded down with all our **** moving from FL to NC. Wife was behind me getting sprayed with diesel fuel as I saw smoke/ mist coming out from my side view mirror. Open the hood and it was like a diesel sprinkler going off under my hood.
Did I mention it was a Sunday? Had to call a buddy to drive 2 hours from Charlotte to grab the U-haul and a flatbed to grab the truck. Sat on the side of the interstate for 4 hours with my wife and daughter waiting. I almost set fire to the truck right there on I-26!! (don't get me wrong...I love my truck, but I was ****** beyond recognition).
I had Dodge pay for the tow, repair, and delivery of my truck...I went nuts when I finally got someone on the phone the next day!
Honestly though (knock on wood), that's the ONLY mechanical problem I have ever had with the truck...
