Shifting Problems!! HELP!!

My 2000 Cummins Auto Won't Shift Out of first gear on its own. I have to bump the gas and then it will shift. All Other Gears Shift fine. This problem happened over night and I don't know what could have went wrong. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks

Check the throttle valve cable retainers and cable ends, at each end of the cable that runs from the transmission to the fuel injection pump linkage. Most often this problem crops up when one of the retainers snaps off, or an end cracks.

If those are in good shape and properly adjusted, then check your accelerator pedal position sensor. It is found on the side of the injection pump.
