Scraping sound

Scraping sound
My ram starting making a scraping noise this afternoon while driving down highway. I thot a tailpipe or something was draggin. Nothing is visible under the truck or in the motor. Starts at about 40mph and quits when u slow down. No effect if you put in neutral at 40+. sounds like it is coming from the front, but no evidence of heating, low oil pressure, or alt probs. Maybe some diesel smell, but not sure at there was lots of traffic. Nothing in wheel caps. Any ideas?

Did it sound like gravel in a steel hubcap?
When mine did that it was the front driveshaft, imploded CV joint.
Make sure you are going straight and put it in 4 wheel drive and see if the noise gets much much worse, if so, there's your culprit.
