rpms for best fuel economy

rpms for best fuel economy

got a 95 with an auto...whats the best rpms to try and drive it at to get the most mileage out of it and to keep the tranny in good shape??..i like to keep it around 1700-1800 rpms whereever i am or whatever gear....is that too low?...i like it

You first need to say what rear end gear ratio you have 4:10 or 3:73 that changes things. chris

The Cummins "Happy Spot" is 1800 - 2100 RPM.

Hey 4doogie he would have either 4:10 or 3:54 gears. The third gens have the 3:73 gears. I wish I had 3:73s. Since mr T said he runs at about 1700 to 1800 rpm he probably has the 3:54 gears. Shovelhead hit it right. Keep the rpms where he said and you will see the best economy.

My '95 auto's mpgs go downhill fast over 2000 rpm. This is 73 mph with my 3.54 rearend.

my bad i thought i might have been wrong thanks, i knew it was 3.73 or 3.54 oops!!
